Dating limits and consent

Each person retains the freedom to decide.

Ask clearly

Accepting a conversation, a photograph or a date does not authorize physical contact nor does it create obligations. Consent must be free, specific and current. An ambiguous answer is no substitute for a clear choice. If in doubt, ask and stop plans that do not have a shared agreement. The decisions belong to each adult.

Allow changes of mind

A person can change their mind even if they had previously shown interest. Don't use time, gifts or expenses as an argument to insist. Trust allows you to express limits without fear of punishment or ridicule. If someone cannot decide freely, do not continue. No cultural explanation eliminates the need to respect a refusal.

Accept differences

Not all expectations can be reconciled. Two people may want different relationships, and it is okay not to continue. Express your limits without disregarding those of the other party. You don't need to accept something you don't want to show interest. A respectful relationship maintains the autonomy of those who participate.
